Center Point, Texas, holds an intriguing history. Its name originated when the post office reopened due to its strategic location on the trade routes. The community, founded mainly by settlers from western Tennessee, continued to grow as relatives and neighbors from Tennessee converged on the banks of the Guadalupe to call Zanzenburg/Center Point their new home.
Adding to its charm, Center Point has been home to several notable personalities. Carl Pfeufer, a comic book artist, magazine illustrator, and fine artist, lived in Center Point. Stacy Sutherland, the lead guitarist of the 13th Floor Elevators, rests in Center Point Cemetery. Edwin Walker, a United States Army officer, was born here. Catherine “Sara” Haden, an actress, was born in Center Point on November 17, 1898.
